C&O Canal – Oldtown

TransparentSign166.7During the WooFDriver’s Mushing Tour of the C&O Canal Towpath, he made Oldtown, Maryland at milepost 166.7 a stopping and starting point on a couple mushing adventures. Oldtown was founded in the 18th century and at the time called Shawanese Old Town as it was the site of an abandoned Shawnee Native American village. The town came to life with the building of the trading post along the Nemacolin Trail, an old Native American trail.
