Kent Island

By

December 13, 2011 the WooFDriver and his crew took the WooFPAK to Kent Island, Maryland for a mushing tour. This is the largest island in the Chesapeake Bay and the location of the first European settlement in Maryland. For 12,000 years the island has been home to many people. The most recent native people were the peaceful Matapeake tribe, members of the Algonquin nation. In 1631 William Claiborne was the first European to permanent settle on Kent Island.
